Salary Structure / Pay Scale

Level-1 Pay Matrix: ₹18,000 – ₹56,900 (as per 7th CPC) plus admissible Central Government allowances.
Special Security Allowance @ 20% of basic pay. Cash compensation for duty on holidays subject to ceiling.

Selection Process

  1. Tier-I: Computer Based Test (Objective MCQs) — 100 questions, 1 mark each, total 100, duration 1 hour. Negative marking: 0.25 for each wrong answer.
  2. Cut-off in Tier-I (minimum): UR-30 | OBC-28 | SC/ST-25 | EWS-30 (may vary upwards).
  3. Tier-II: Descriptive Test in English (Qualifying) — 50 marks; qualifying marks = 20.
  4. Shortlisting for Tier-II: approx. 10x vacancies (subject to cut-offs and normalization).
  5. Final merit list based on Tier-I marks (candidate must qualify Tier-II). Then Document Verification & Medical Examination.

  • General Awareness: Current Affairs (last 6-12 months), Indian Polity, Indian Economy, History, Geography, General Science basics.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Number Systems, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion, Time & Work, Time, Speed & Distance, Simple Interest, Averages.
  • Reasoning: Logical & Analytical Reasoning, Series, Coding-Decoding, Blood Relations, Directions, Puzzles.
  • English: Basic grammar, vocabulary, synonyms/antonyms, sentence correction, reading comprehension (Tier-II tests writing skills — paragraph of ~150 words).

Preparation Tips

  1. Make daily current affairs notes and revise weekly (newspapers + monthly current affairs PDFs).
  2. Solve previous year papers & take timed mocks for Tier-I accuracy and speed.
  3. Practice descriptive writing — write 150-word paragraphs on common topics for Tier-II.
  4. Work on weak areas (math shortcuts, reasoning patterns) and revise basics.
  5. Keep document scans ready and ensure photo/signature specs are correct before applying.
