Selection Process

The selection process for the IOCL Apprenticeship is strictly merit-based.

  1. Merit List Preparation: Selection is based on the percentage of marks (aggregate of all years/semesters) obtained in the prescribed qualifying examination (B.Sc./Diploma/ITI etc.) in descending order.
  2. NO Written Test: There shall be No Written Test.
  3. Tie-Breaker: In case of a tie in marks, the candidate senior by Date of Birth will be ranked higher. If the DOB is also the same, the candidate with a higher percentage in Matriculation (Class X) will be considered.
  4. Document Verification & Medical: Shortlisted candidates will be called for Document Verification (DV), followed by a Pre-Engagement Medical Examination.

Exam Pattern / Merit Calculation Criteria

Since there is no written exam, the focus is on the academic performance in the qualifying degree/diploma.

Selection Stage Weightage / Criteria Status
Written Exam NIL Not Conducted
Academic Merit 100% of Final Marks Based on aggregate % in B.Sc./Diploma/ITI/B.Com etc.
Tie-Breaker 1 Date of Birth (Seniority) Used if academic marks are identical
Tie-Breaker 2 Class X Marks Used if DOB is also identical

Detailed Syllabus

As the selection is based purely on academic merit, a formal syllabus for a competitive exam is Not Applicable (N/A).

However, candidates must have thorough knowledge of the subjects covered in their respective full-time qualification course (B.Sc., ITI, or Diploma in Engineering), as the merit list is calculated directly from those final marks.

Preparation Tips for Application and Document Verification

Your focus should be on accuracy and compliance, as academic merit is already determined.

  1. Ensure Document Readiness: Keep all original mark sheets (semester/year-wise), degree/diploma certificates, Class X Certificate (for age proof), and Caste/EWS certificates (in the latest GOI format) ready for verification.
  2. CGPA Conversion: If your marks are in CGPA/OGPA, obtain the official conversion certificate from your University/Institute, as this is mandatory at the time of DV.
  3. NAPS/NATS Profile Check: Before applying, meticulously review and correct your NAPS/NATS profile to ensure the aggregate percentage of marks is correctly updated and verified by the respective Board/University.
  4. Multiple Applications: Remember, applying for more than one Trade/Discipline will result in the application being summarily rejected. Choose wisely.
