Educational Eligibility Criteria

Paper I (Classes I–V) – Primary Level

  • Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with 50% marks and passed/appearing in final year of 2-year D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education).
  • Higher Secondary with 45% marks and passed/appearing in final year of 2-year D.El.Ed. (as per NCTE 2002 norms).
  • Higher Secondary with 50% marks and passed/appearing in final year of 4-year B.El.Ed. (Bachelor of Elementary Education).
  • Higher Secondary with 50% marks and passed/appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

Paper II (Classes VI–VIII) – Secondary Level

  • Graduation and passed/appearing in final year of 2-year D.El.Ed.
  • Graduation with 50% marks and passed/appearing in final year of B.Ed. / B.Ed. (Special Education).
  • Graduation with 45% marks and passed/appearing in final year of B.Ed. (as per NCTE norms).
  • Higher Secondary with 50% marks and passed/appearing in final year of 4-year B.El.Ed. or 4-year B.A./B.Sc. Ed. or B.A. Ed./B.Sc. Ed.
  • B.E. + B.Ed. candidates are also eligible to choose Mathematics & Science optional in Paper II.

Important Relaxation: Candidates belonging to SC, SC(A), ST, BC, BC(M), MBC/DNC and PwD categories get up to 5% relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years as on 01-07-2025
  • Maximum Age: No upper age limit for applying to TNTET.
